No, there are several Boys and Girls Clubs in the County. Boys and Girls Foundation has provided grants to some of the clubs in the past but we are not affiliated.
When are your application deadlines?
Deadlines are posted on our How To Apply page. They are August 1st, November 1st, February 1st, May 1st.
Do you fund capital expenditures?
Generally, we do not fund capital expenditures. We would rather our grant funds go directly to programs which benefit disadvantaged and underserved youth in San Diego.
Do you monitor the use of your grants?
Boys and Girls Foundation requires each grant recipient to provide us with a 1-year progress report.
Do you have a target population that you like to focus on?
We do not have a specific target age range. We provide grants to organizations that have programs, which benefit disadvantaged and underserved youth throughout San Diego County.
In the City of San Diego, the child poverty rate is 15.5%, roughly the same as the pre-recession rate.
Almost 1 in 4 Black and Latino children and nearly half of Native American children lived in poverty, compared to only about 7% of White children.
Families headed by single mothers had a poverty rate of 29.2%, much higher than the 17.3% rate for single fathers.
